Black Rose

I've searched the meaning of beauty; I've read all definitions of charm.

And I proclaim…You are not beautiful.

For beauty is about symmetry, about geometry; about the right face mirroring the left

It's about color and texture, about the fall of your hair

It's about the tautness of your breasts, about the curves of your thighs

It's about, stilettos and perfumes, and lipsticks you wear.

But when I opened the dusty old album of you and me, and saw you from who I was once,

I didn't need big fat books or manmade definitions to understand beauty.

For beauty is a feeling, non-absolute.

Beauty is the embrace of togetherness, the laughter on the skin.

Beauty is flooding the eyes with love, accepting a human from within

Beauty is your darkened eyes, the wait every night

Beauty is you punching me, after you've lost the fight

Beauty is the upturn on your lips, of kisses on my head

Beauty is your "I love you too", when I haven't even said.
