International Edition Kid’s Den (Frits Van Nimwegen)

“Art is all style and no sincerity. The work that bagged the first prize was a beautiful ceramic white pigeon. It was far more appealing than my rugged sculpture. But yes, I got an unofficial prize—a prize that is of far greater value than the institutional award. As I was packing up my things, a middle-aged lady came up to me, asking if I would explain the model to her as she couldn’t understand the explanatory note tagged below. I explained, and she was overwhelmed, and asked me if she could take that paper home. I felt greatly honoured. I think; one true appreciation gives a kind of satisfaction that fake applause from thousands can’t grant.
