Dreams had carved her eyes, and night had tinted kohl on her eyebrows. The first rays of sun made her blush and smile. Dew drops were still fresh on her lips.

I felt the joy of a Phoenix reaching the Sun. I felt the thrill of scorching death in search of life. I felt like a saint struggling to keep his God alive. I felt like the last warrior combating to defend his citadel. I felt like a mayfly with only a day’s life—willing to live and die in my lover’s arms.
