Winter Fantasy
“You know, I am incurably romantic", she said, "when I was fifteen, something strange, and of course very pleasant, happened to me. I started to feel the uncanny presence of someone in my life, which I still do. He has no face, no shape, and no physicality. When I listen to romantic songs, I feel it’s him serenading me. When I put on the music, he holds me tight by my waist, his hand in mine, leading me into a celestial dance. He makes love to me in my dreams. Sometime I go into a trance—that’s an awfully ethereal experience”.

Oblivion
“Awesome, Pinks! You have transcended reality into dream—in the world where millions of exultant dreams are slaughtered every day”, I remarked, “Some people talk of higher dimensions of the universe and believe there is a bona fide dreamland for each person, which is constantly at threat from worldly invaders. When we compromise our dreams for whatever reasons, we ourselves rampage our beloved abode. Had we kept the vows made to our childhood, heaven would be here by now.”

Beyond Death
“I am feeling scared,” she typed.
“Don’t be afraid,” I wrote, “The night may be thick and voracious, but can it swallow the brilliance of a mere firefly? The desert storm may be fierce and feral, but can it grind a single grain of desert sand? The small is not meek; the Good Shepherd takes care of his sheep.”

Artist Anastasia
Artist Anastasia Michaels was born and raised in Kazakhstan, currently living in Seattle, Washington, USA.
I grew up in a very heavily art-influenced household. My first art teacher was my mother, who was a teacher at an Art School I attended back in Kazakhstan and later graduated from. I have many memories of me as little kid sitting with my moms class and listening her correcting her students and trying to do the same. I later moved to the United States with my husband and our first born son.
I taught myself digital painting and later developed interest in ink drawing, inspired by my aunt’s ink works. I find inspiration in everything around me; different cultures, fantasy, people faces, landscape…
Art was and always will be a big part of my life. Something I will keep coming back to for comfort and self expression.
I love how a combination of different shapes and colors can become something so meaningful and beautiful.
