Expessions

I was at awe, staring at the moment of my life, the moment designed by destiny to perfection. Lightning blazed across the sky with a roll of thunder. A face of exquisite yet serene beauty burned itself on my eyelids. I shivered. Her lips trembled, like two petals of rose drenched in dew. I envied the water droplets that sucked her luscious lips. A gust of wind made her hair waver; it shone like black diamonds rolling down a secret brook.

Artist Dmitry Marin

Artist Dmitry Marin was born and raised in Russia, where he lives.

Artist Dmitry Marin, 37 years old, is a digital artist, who is interested in multiple forms of art – drawing, 3D modeling, photography, video editing, and of course digital painting.

It was about 5 years ago, that Artist Dmitry Marin came across a digital painting on the Internet, which was made in “oil painting” style. It was an eureka moment for him! He really liked the effect of digital oil paint and I wanted to learn it. Artist Dmitry Marin attempted various techniques, graphics editors, among others. Digital oil painting was, and still is, a very exciting process of turning a photo into a pictorial drawing with a lot of textural details.

“At the moment, there are a lot of different styles, techniques, etc. in digital painting. But they all look a little unnatural to the human eye, as they lack organic texture. The digital picture very often looks flat, there is no sense of “depth” in it. I don’t like that either, so I’ve always tried to add natural materials to my paintings.
Over time, I have developed my own technique that allows me to create digital paintings that are no different from paintings made in the traditional style. Now, I don’t paint from scratch. I work with images that already exist…photos, scans, textures and more. This technique combines the benefits of digital painting with the naturalness of traditional painting. This is a very fun process!
Graphic editors such as Corel Painter and Photoshop help me with this. Now there are many different platforms, but I think this is the best combination for a digital artist so far,” says Artist Dmitry Marin.

Each brush stroke has its own depth and unique texture. Artist Dmitry Marin hopes that you will be inspired by his work as he was inspired by the work of another artist.
